Peter is a freelance broadcast FCP & VT editor living in the UK. He also demonstrates, lectures and trains editors on Apple’s range of professional video applications. Over the last year he has written the successful Volumetrix plugins for FCP & Motion and has launched the Motion template store, idustrial revolution.

Current Over the last 5 years he has pioneered the use of Final Cut Pro and the other Pro-Apps into broadcast television in the UK. Peter is probably one of the most experienced FCP editors in the UK having been firmly committed to FCP since 2002. He designed from scratch the unique shared storage workflow for the Tour de France that has since been embraced by the sports & live production market. He was also the first person worldwide to air a project made on Apple’s real time graphics software, Motion.
He also owns his own 10bit uncompressed broadcast FCP edit suite that regularly gets hired by BBC & ITV productions in the UK and other clients worldwide.
History Peter started early making things, and hasn’t really stopped since. The proud owner of a Teac 4 track recorder led to him engineering a single record for a band at 13, and an album at 14. The progression into video/TV led to him directing & making his first TV commercial aged 18. Peter was also the youngest person ever to achieve an Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society. Peter was also DJ'ing in his spare time and through this combined the two disciplines of editing and mixing to do the first beat matched segue between music videos.
A journey through the various tape formats ensued. Along with Colin Dean, Peter was the first freelance editor ever to be employed by ITN. Starting at Wells Street on VPR2’s and HiBand, later progressing to Beta Sp in Grays Inn Road. For over five years, Peter was contracted to The Financial Times and CNN to edit and TD their business news. A highlight of broadcast work was editing with Michael Jackson on “The Earth Song” performance for the World Music Awards. Michael also personally asked Peter to remix the track for transmission.
He still drives multi machine digital edit suites in facility houses and outside broadcast vehicles worldwide. Peter was the first person in the UK to use Profile hard disk recorders as edit servers and ranks himself as a ‘pioneer’ of the use of the Sony DME 7000 into sports editing.Peter has a long list of broadcast credits. From Blue Peter for the BBC to coverage of the Winter Olympics for CBS. Corporate credits range from large blue chip clients like Unilever to the small personal showreels for sporting celebrities. |
